The Wildlife Rescue Centre of the Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden, operated by the Hungarian Bird Rescue Foundation, rescues hundreds of hedgehogs every year.
The very first patient to win over the JK9 Pet Laser team was a tiny injured hedgehog. Its already operated hind leg and abdominal area still required follow-up treatment. But there was one little problem: the hedgehog kept curling up into a ball! The doctor explained that they always have to be put under anesthesia to gain access to the injuries.
On the little creature’s injured leg, even the claws had grown too long and needed trimming. After cleaning the wound came disinfection, followed by a 3-minute Pet Laser treatment. Since it was an open injury, we covered the optics with protective foil.
The small patient was soon back in its box and woke up just a few minutes later.
