A few decades ago, there was no debate about what to put on your pet, because all dogs had was a leather collar or maybe a choke chain. Today, however, it is easy to get lost in the range of options, as you can choose from not only a large number of collars, but also harnesses.

What are collars and harnesses for?

The function of the collar is usually to hold the dog and lead it on a leash, while always being ready to make gentle adjustments. The use of the collar should be avoided if your pet has breathing difficulties, doesn’t have a lot of fur on its neck, or if it irritates their skin.

The dog harness was basically made to replace the collar.  Through using it the dog can be controlled easily, while protecting the neck and ensuring free breathing.  For small dogs, puppies and older dogs, it is recommended to use a harness instead of a collar, unless wearing it is not possible for other health reasons.

If you decide to buy a dog harness, the two most important questions are where and what you want to use the harness for.  Are you looking for a harness for everyday city walks or trips?  Or do you need some sort of special harness, for example rehabilitation?  In the JK9® range, you will find the right harness for every purpose.

For everyday use

If you live in a city and often walk in busy, bustling places, then a chest harness is the best choice for you. This guarantees maximum safety in an environment where it may be necessary to be able to stop the dog suddenly.

The IDC®Powerharness is one of the world’s most popular dog harnesses and the best choice for regular city walks.  You can put it on your dog in one go, and thanks to its design, it does not put stress the dog’s neck and provides free movement for the front legs.  If necessary, you can effectively hold and help the dog by grabbing the handle on its back.

The IDC®Powair harness is a lighter version of the classic IDC®Powerharness.  It is ultra-light, therefore ideal as a first harness for puppies and small dogs. Thanks to its breathable materials, it is comfortable for your dog to wear even on the hottest days.

The IDC®Color&Gray® harness is a truly stylish summer wear. It is extremely breathable and dries very quickly, making it perfect for strolls by water.

For excursions and sports

If you like to escape the city into the countryside, don’t just wear hiking boots for your own health and comfort, but also give your dog this opportunity!  In this spirit, we developed the IDC®Longwalk Y-shaped dog harness, which is the best possible equipment for long walks.

The special feature of the IDC®Longwalk Y-dog harness is that three of its points are designed to be active. This is the world-first Duo-Flex® system, which reacts to your every movement, so using the harness is comfortable even during the longest walks. The collar follows the dog’s movements perfectly at every step, so you can easily let your pet off the leash while keeping the harness on, because thanks to the active parts, they practically know it’s on them.

If you want to run where most can’t even hike, then we invented the JK9®Speed Y dog harness just for you!  If your dog is wearing a JK9®Speed harness, there will be no obstacles left in front of you.  With the help of the strong handle on the back of the harness, your pet can pull you up on steeper slopes, but you can also help them if they get into a difficult situation. The carefully designed leash attachment ring can stand high loads.

In this harness, you can do sports together even if your dog doesn’t like to pull. Since the JK9®Speed is a short Y-shaped harness, it won’t bend back or turn sideways even if your dog prefers to run next to you. The straps of the harness can be adjusted at five points, so it can be completely tailored to your dog’s needs, making it a good choice for dogs that are still growing.

Special harnesses

Special harnesses for special purposes!  We made our special harnesses based on the needs of professional dog owners, and with their help, but we also recommend them for regular dog owners.

During the development of the JK9®Mantrailing Y-dog harness, our primary goal was to create a professional harness that would satisfy all the needs of agencies dealing with searching for people, as well as those who practice mantrailing at a hobby level. The ergonomic chest pad of the JK9®Mantrailing harness distributes the force well on the dog’s body, and the elastic leash attachment dampens unwanted sudden pulls while searching.

The IDC®Stealth® Powerharness is designed primarily for the armed forces. On the back there is a light mounting option, and the raised hook and loop fastening surfaces on the side are suitable for attaching service badges. Its non-slip handle serves to keep the dog stable and prevents it from getting stuck.

As its name implies, the JK9®Multivest dog jacket is suitable for several purposes.  Thanks to its swimming pads, it can be a life vest, which helps the dog stay afloat on the surface of the water. Except for the inserts, it functions as a dog coat, which keeps the dog warm in winter and is also suitable for cooling the dog during the summer. With the handle on the back and the additional strap, it can also be used as a rehabilitation harness.
