Dog accessory manufacturer, JULIUS-K9® has just built a factory in Tiszafüred, where they plan to manufacture dog accessories for the German, Chinese and American markets.
In the first phase, JULIUS-K9® will employ seventy new employees, with fifty more to follow, bringing the total number employed to 500. They will all be working on the production of JULIUS-K9® dog accessories in this new 3000 m2 factory, which was officially opened in a ceremony on 3 April 2018.
JULIUS-K9® has now become one of Europe’s leading dog accessory brands; its products are designed and manufactured in Hungary, but are sold globally, on every continent.
The man behind the Austrian-Hungarian owned company is inventor Gyula Sebő, who has been designing, developing and testing dog accessories for over twenty years. His first best-seller, the K9 Powerharness, dates back to 1997. It was originally produced for a niche market of service dogs. The harness included extra accessories that were unique at the time, such as a lamp holder on the specially designed saddle part, removable patches on both sides of the harness, a reflective chest strap and frame, and an adjustable chest strap with special pads that could be moved to suit the individual anatomy of the dog. Side bags were another novel feature: these could be attached to the harness. The harnesses also had lockable grips that could be used to lift the dog in a safe and comfortable way.
In 2010, the harness design was improved. The successor, titled the IDC® Powerharness, was the first dog harness that used physical and trigonometrical calculations to prove anatomical suitability and ergonomic advantage when leading dogs on a leash. The essential design is an updated combination of the Y harness (surrounding the dog’s neck), and the breast-harness (fitting around the chest). This arrangement decreases the load placed directly on the neck, by spreading the burden via the chest strap and the saddle.
The JULIUS-K9® company has won many professional awards. In 2014, they were ranked first in the “dog accessory” category of Dog Awards competition, held by the German-based “Dogs” magazine. In 2015, they were awarded a Hungarian Product Grand Prix. Their latest achievement was to win “the most popular brand” prize at the Pet Fair Asia 2017 expo held in Shanghai in 2017.
